Art history period painting styles

Art has been around ever since the dawn of man. During the prehistoric period, art was done on caves where early man drew pictures of their exploits. Then they began to sculpt small figures out of wood using crude tools made from stones and other materials they could find. One piece of art they was retrieved from this period was a little sculpture that depicts a woman with exaggerated female attributes. This find was named the Venus of Willendorf which was then renamed to Woman of Willendorf. As civilization began to progress, so did its hungry to excel in the field of arts. The great traditions in art have a foundation in one of the great ancient civilizations: Ancient Egypt, Mesopotamia, Persia, India, China, Ancient Greece, Rome or Arabia. Each of these center of early civilizations developed a unique and characteristic in their art. The size and duration of these civilizations has helped their works of art to survive and allow it to influence other cultures long after.

 During the 5th and 16th century, which was referred to as the Middle Ages or Medieval Ages, many of the ancient art methods were adapted. In Europe, Romanesque, which is loosely derived from Roman architecture. Within this period, Celtic and Germanic barbarian forms were into decorative Christian art, although the central impulse remain Roman and Byzantine. Also, some principle artworks include the fabulous illuminated manuscripts which were with gold, silver and precious pigments to illustrate biblical narratives. At the peak of the Middle Ages, which is referred to as High Middle Ages dawned to Renaissance era where breakthroughs in many fields of sciences and arts. The Renaissance began in central Italy and spread throughout Europe.

 Leonardo da Vinci, an Italian polymath, produced a great paintings, structures and sculptures during this era. He also made inventions and blueprints which were somewhat a basis to automotive vehicles and air crafts. After the Renaissance Era, the Modern Era furthered the developments that were made during the Renaissance Era. New concepts of art were born during this time like the Baroque which was exemplified by drama and grandeur in sculpture, painting, literature, dance and music. This style was encouraged by the Roman Catholic Church at the Council of Trent that arts should communicate religious themes in direct and emotional involvement.

Presently, the sculptures, paintings and architecture we see around us are products of the events that had taken place in the periods mentioned above. Although further enhancements are being developed, the basis and roots still dawn from those eras. A fantastic site piques the interests of the reader, and should try to contain the keywords that relate to something that he was originally searching for. It is like catching a fish with a hook and line; it must catch the interest of the intended subject, like the fish who saw a worm dangling deliciously in a hook.
